A friend is someone who gives you their personal time or a gift and wants nothing in return except for your happiness. The most valuable thing that a person can give another person is their time. Since people are only alive on this earth for a specific amount of time, TIME is the most valuable thing.

The most valuable thing that a person can give another person is their time. This includes risking their life, their "time," for another. When someone gives you their personal time or a gift and wants nothing in return except for your happiness, that is the definition of true friendship.

BEWARE of people who are more concerned with their own selfish or dysfunctional agenda. These are people who claim that they are your friend and give you their time or some gift/present and expect in return one or more of the worldly intoxicants: MONEY, POWER, or SEX.

A true friend does not manipulate you or involve you in dysfunction. The dysfunctional person who wants to involve you in one or more of the BIG THREE—LOW SELF ESTEEM, SELF CENTEREDNESS, or JEALOUSY—is not your friend.

When evaluating friendships, ask yourself: Does this person want my happiness? Or does this person want something from me in return? A true friend gives freely and expects nothing but to see you succeed and be happy.

Be cautious of people who use friendship as a means to an end. They may initially appear generous, but their ulterior motives will eventually reveal themselves. True friends are consistent, honest, and genuinely concerned with your well-being.

The gift of time is irreplaceable. When someone chooses to spend their valuable time with you without any expectation of reward or benefit, they are showing you genuine friendship. This is a rare and precious thing in this world.

Protect your friendships by being selective about who you allow into your inner circle. Surround yourself with people who lift you up, support your goals, and want to see you succeed. These are the people worth giving your time to in return.
